da-i
da-i 14k gold pendant, 2018
The idea for the da-i (enough) pendant was sparked during a conversation with my friend, the filmmaker Carmit Harash. As artists with long-standing friendships, our discussions often revolve around art, literature, cinema, personal issues, and the creative process. The concept of the broken pendant, born from a conversation about despair, is a result of this. Each pendant is a unique creation, crafted by erasing and editing the popular pendant chai ( Hebrew “living”) to give birth to a new pendant – da-i – from the existing ready-made.
This work is a continuation of a series of silver pendants I cast in 2006. The OVER pendant, a tribute to LOVE by Robert Indiana, was created during the outbreak of the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006.
